OZ KINK FEST 2025 POST FESTIVAL SURVEY RESPONSES
We have taken our time to review the survey responses and want to thank everyone who took the time to share their thoughts. Out of 3,000 festival participants, 37 responses were received. As the responses are anonymous, we have responded broadly, attempting to address each response. However, for repetitive responses that said exactly the same thing, we have only responded in the first instance and noted “no response” to duplicates.
We also want to acknowledge that a small number of individuals have been very vocal on social media, sharing criticism of the festival without first reaching out to us directly or providing their feedback through the survey. While we welcome constructive dialogue and criticism, we encourage open and direct communication to ensure concerns can be addressed effectively. This survey process is one way we aim to listen and improve, and we appreciate those who engaged thoughtfully and productively.
We have found this process to be an important tool in shaping our future approach and have taken on board many concerns and suggestions. We particularly appreciate those who provided thoughtful and productive feedback, and we have tried to find a balance in what is achievable for what is, at its core, a small community festival.
The purpose of Oz Kink Fest extends far beyond being a series of events; it serves as a vital gathering point for a marginalised community, offering a safe and celebratory space for connection, expression, and growth. The festival is a unique platform that provides not only social and cultural impact but also economic opportunities for artists, presenters, artisan makers, and businesses that support our diverse and vibrant community.
The festival fosters:
- Community Connection: Bringing people together from all walks of life to celebrate diversity and inclusivity.
- Economic Opportunities: Supporting artisan makers and small businesses within our community through trading opportunities and exposure to a wider audience.
- Artistic Development: Providing work opportunities for performers and presenters, many of whom are deeply connected to the kink and alternative lifestyle communities.
However, it’s essential to understand the financial realities behind producing Oz Kink Fest. The costs of delivering this festival are substantial and growing every year. For example:
- Insurance: Exceeds $15,000 across all events.
- Venue Hire: Close to $50,000.
- Production Costs: Approximately $30,000.
- Artist and Presenter Payments: Around $60,000, ensuring fair compensation for their work.
- Travel and Accommodation: Over $12,000 to bring in international and interstate talent.
- Crew Costs: Supporting the people who make the festival run smoothly.
These expenses are just the tip of the iceberg and underline the enormous financial commitment involved in creating a festival of this scale. Despite these challenges, we remain committed to delivering a high-quality experience. The reality is, we could not achieve this without the incredible generosity and dedication of our volunteers. Their contributions underpin every aspect of the festival, from event setup to ensuring smooth operations throughout.
Additionally, our monthly event, Provocation, plays a crucial role in supporting the festival. It provides a financial foundation, helping us manage the significant outlay required to bring Oz Kink Fest to life each year.
As you read through the survey responses, I encourage you to keep in mind the broader purpose of the festival and the enormous effort it takes to deliver such a meaningful experience. Oz Kink Fest is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of community, resilience, and creativity. Thank you for your continued support, which allows us to keep building and growing this incredible festival for all.
The following responses start with the negatives as they are the ones that will inform change, improvement and actions we can make to ensure the future of the festival
If you have further feedback, suggestions, criticism please email or arrange an inperson meeting via email info@ozkinkfest.com
SURVEY RESULTS
What didn’t you like, or think could be improved?
FEEDBACK
The photography seemed like they focused on a particular group of people and one photographer interrupted scenes.
RESPONSE
Thank you for your feedback regarding the photography at Oz Kink Fest. We strive to ensure our photographers capture the diverse spirit of our community and create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for everyone. The photos displayed on our website reflect this commitment, showcasing a wide variety of attendees and moments from the event.
If a photographer interrupted scenes during the event, we deeply regret any disruption caused. We encourage attendees to report such incidents immediately to our front-of-house staff, who are equipped to address issues on the night and ensure they are not repeated. Clear signage throughout the venue reinforces this message, and it is also included in the conditions of entry provided with each ticket.
FEEDBACK
he workshop booking process was confusing and being fed info piece by piece made it hard to know what to pick.
RESPONSE
Thank you for your feedback on the workshop booking process. With over 60 workshops offered across two days, we understand that the breadth of options and detailed information can feel overwhelming at times. Our goal is to provide comprehensive details to help attendees make informed decisions, but we recognise the process could be streamlined.
We’re always available to assist and responded to many individual requests for help this year. We truly appreciate those who reached out and gave us the opportunity to guide them through the selection process.
Looking ahead, we are committed to refining the booking system for next year, including exploring alternative ticketing platforms to make the process smoother and more intuitive for everyone. Thank you for sharing your experience—it helps us improve and ensures a better experience in the future.
FEEDBACK
I would love for Hellfire to be more music/dance with less performances. The night just didn’t seem to get into a flow and was stop/start. The energy seemed to leave early on the night.
RESPONSE
Thank you for sharing your thoughts about Hellfire. We value hearing different perspectives and appreciate your honesty. While the performances are a key feature of the event, showcasing incredible international talent that draws many attendees, we understand the importance of maintaining a strong flow and energy throughout the night.
Next year, we are planning to adjust the performance program, including reducing the number of shibari performances, to create a more balanced mix of performances, music, and dance. It’s also worth noting that the event is designed with multiple spaces beyond the main stage, offering play spaces, social areas and chill out spaces to suit a variety of preferences.
Your feedback helps us fine-tune the event to better cater to the diverse experiences of our audience. Thank you for contributing to the ongoing evolution of Hellfire, and we hope to see you next year!
FEEDBACK
Don’t put the event photos behind a pay wall
RESPONSE
Thank you for your feedback regarding the event photos. Within three weeks of the event concluding, photos from the Launch Party, Fetish Expo, Fetish Expo Fashion Show, Fetish Expo After Party, and Hellfire Resurrection were publicly available on our website for everyone to view.
The only exception is photos from Klub Kunts. Due to the nature of this event and the type of play-related photos taken, these are placed behind a paywall to respect the privacy and boundaries of our attendees. This approach reflects the wishes of the majority of Klub Kunts attendees, who have specifically requested that these photos remain discreet and not be posted publicly. This policy is clearly outlined in the advertising, ticketing information, and on our website.
That said, we are always happy to send photos of individuals to them directly upon request via email.
We believe this approach balances accessibility with respect for the privacy of our community and its events. Thank you for your understanding.
FEEDBACK
I think the last party has a very mild tone especially considering the trigger warning and previous years. The acts set a tone that wasn’t at all edgy, beautiful and sexy and enjoyable but not edgy. As a visitor, we followed the set vibe.
RESPONSE
Thank you for your feedback about the tone of the final party. We design our events to be inclusive, beautiful, and sensual while giving attendees the freedom to craft their own experiences in the way that feels right for them.
This year marked the first time we included performances at Klub Kunts. Our performers are selected through an inclusive process via a public call-out, allowing anyone within the community to apply. Those who respond are given the opportunity to perform, which helps build a larger pool of performers within the community. While this approach is still a work in progress, we believe it fosters growth and diversity in our events.
In a large venue with multiple play spaces, the energy and intensity can vary depending on individual participation. It’s important to note that the event does not—and will not—encourage or expect attendees to play for the entertainment of others. The focus is on providing a safe and respectful environment where everyone can explore at their own comfort level without external pressure.
We appreciate your perspective and will continue to ensure our events maintain their unique character while supporting a diverse range of experiences. Thank you for being part of the community, and we hope to see you again next year!
FEEDBACK
The music was insanely loud. Caused me a sensory overload and was too loud to allow anyone to chat to each other. Absolutely insane and awful. Do better.
RESPONSE
Thank you for your feedback about the music volume. We aim to create an environment that caters to a variety of sensory preferences, which is why all of our events include designated quiet spaces where attendees can retreat if they need a break.
If your experience was at the Fetish Expo, we acknowledge there was a brief period in the main hall when the music volume was higher than intended. We apologise for this oversight and have already taken steps to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
That said, we encourage attendees to take personal responsibility for their comfort during events. If something feels overwhelming, we invite you to make use of the quiet spaces or communicate with our front-of-house team, who are always available to assist.
We appreciate your honesty and will continue working to strike the right balance for all our attendees. Thank you for helping us improve, and we hope you’ll give us another chance in the future.
FEEDBACK
Photo crediting
RESPONSE
Thank you for your feedback regarding photo crediting. With over 20,000 images taken across all events, we work hard to ensure that photographers and performers are credited wherever possible. However, there are instances where we may not have all the necessary information, or, on rare occasions, mistakes can happen.
Our photography policy clearly states that if you see a photo of yourself on any of our social media platforms, we encourage you to comment with your tag, and we will update the credit immediately. This helps us ensure proper attribution and acknowledge the incredible people in our community. Please note that some performers have private accounts and if they don’t follow us, we are unable to tag them publicly. On occasion someone else tags them and they become aware, and we resolve this.
We are committed to improving this process and welcome any corrections or additional information to help us properly attribute images. If you have specific concerns or notice an oversight, please feel free to let us know, and we’ll do our best to rectify it.
Your understanding and support are greatly appreciated as we navigate this significant volume of content. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
FEEDBACK
Workshops aren’t equal to each other. A wax 101 and sparks Hojo hishi workshop is not the same value. I got stuck in workshops not meaning much due to this and paid so much to learn more about chastity(not for me)
RESPONSE
With over 60 workshops running over two days and 10 different sessions happening simultaneously, we strive to provide a diverse range of topics and presenters to suit a variety of interests and skill levels.
Each workshop and presenter are treated equally, with no increased value placed on specific topics. This reflects the spirit of the event, which is centred on education, social connection, and community building. To ensure the best experience, we encourage attendees to book early, as this increases the likelihood of securing spots in their preferred workshops.
We recognise that not every topic may resonate with every individual, but the unique mix of offerings is designed to create a well-rounded and enriching experience for everyone. Regardless of what workshop you attend it will always be an educational experience.
A two-hour session with an international Shibari Educator is worth over $250 however the weekend provides this opportunity at a far less cost, but this should not devalue any other presenters or workshop topics.
At the end of the day each participant paid less than $40 per workshop had morning tea and afternoon tea included in the price providing exceptional value for money.
FEEDBACK
Ticketing.
RESPONSE
Responded to on your first submission
FEEDBACK
The music was too loud at the expo, and it made it difficult to talk to stall holders.
RESPONSE
It was we agree
FEEDBACK
Releasing the Klub Kunst photos with no paywall, why does hellfire get to be viewed for free but not Klub Kunst?
RESPONSE
The decision to place these photos behind a paywall is based on the unique nature of the event. Klub Kunts features play-related and highly intimate moments that require an additional layer of privacy to respect the boundaries and comfort of our attendees. This aligns with feedback we’ve received from the majority of participants, who have specifically requested that these photos remain discreet and not be posted publicly.
Hellfire, on the other hand, is structured differently, with performances and moments that are less personal in nature, allowing us to share the photos more broadly. Even so, we take care to ensure that all event photos respect individual privacy and consent.
For Klub Kunts attendees, we offer the option to request photos of themselves directly by email, ensuring they have access to their personal moments without compromising the privacy of others. We believe this approach strikes the right balance between accessibility and discretion.
FEEDBACK
High entry price for market and Hellfire. Hellfire advertised multiple start times for second year in a row. Confusing and hard to plan. Ticketing system is awful every year, especially for workshops. Need event details on tickets.
RESPONSE
Event Locations:
All our event locations are clearly communicated across our marketing materials, graphics, website, and event listings to ensure attendees have all the information they need. If you experienced any difficulty finding this information, we encourage you to reach out directly, as we’re always here to assist.
Entry Prices:
We understand that ticket prices are an important consideration. Our pricing reflects the value offered by our events, including world-class performers, diverse programming, and safe, high-quality venues. Additionally, with many festivals facing closure due to increasing costs, particularly public liability insurance, our ticket pricing is vital for the survival of the festival. It ensures we can continue providing unique, community-driven experiences year after year.
Ticketing System:
We acknowledge the challenges some attendees have faced with the ticketing system, especially for workshops. We are exploring alternative platforms to make the process smoother, more intuitive, and to include clearer event details on tickets moving forward.
Event Details on Tickets:
We aim to ensure that all pertinent details, including venue locations, event times, and any additional information, are clearly displayed on tickets in the future to further improve the attendee experience.
FEEDBACK
Absolutely way too loud. Expo after party crosses were not weighed down and that ruined the experience for many people. Please explicitly declare if we should expect people having sex or not at an event.
RESPONSE
Equipment Stability:
We did not receive any reports during the event about issues with equipment, such as the crosses not being weighed down. We encourage attendees to report any concerns on the night so that our team can address them immediately. That said, we acknowledge this was an oversight during the quick turnaround between events, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused. Moving forward, we will take additional measures to ensure all equipment is thoroughly checked and stabilised before the event begins.
Sex-On-Premises Expectations:
We understand the importance of clarity regarding sex-on-premises expectations. Signage at the venue entrance clearly indicates whether sex is permitted, along with information about where to find safe sex supplies and cleaning supplies, which are provided at various stations throughout the venue. Additionally, we ask attendees to take personal responsibility for their needs, just in case supplies are not immediately visible.
This information is also communicated in the reminder email sent the day before the event and included with ticket purchase details. We’ll continue to refine our communication to ensure everyone knows what to expect.
FEEDBACK
Its hard to satisfy everyone but for me the possibility of a greater range of food n beverage options would be nice, outside of that I feel we had yet another great OKF.
RESPONSE
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback! We’re so glad to hear you enjoyed another great Oz Kink Fest and that the event met your expectations overall.
We understand that food and beverage options are an important part of the experience, and we’ll take your suggestion into account as we plan for next year’s event. Expanding the range of offerings is something we are always exploring, and your input helps guide those decisions.
Thank you for being part of the OKF community, and we can’t wait to see you again next year!
FEEDBACK
Maybe a bit better security at the rear of the Provocation event, as there were people going in and out near the toilets for smoking breaks.
RESPONSE
We understand that the movement of people taking smoking breaks near the toilets can be disruptive.
There was a security guard stationed outside the door to manage access and ensure safety, but we recognise that the presence of smokers in this area may have been an annoyance for some attendees. We will review our setup to see how we can better balance access control with minimising disruptions in the future.
FEEDBACK
I thought the after party was not very good, not as good as the expo… Was very small, not enough seating, we expected more of a party and dancing but we just ended up sitting on the floor and watching some things.
RESPONSE
We’re sorry to hear it didn’t fully meet your expectations and appreciate you sharing your experience.
The After Party is designed to be a performance-focused event, balancing play and entertainment while showcasing the incredible talents of our international and interstate performers. This format helps support and celebrate the artistry within our community, creating a unique offering distinct from the high-energy vibe of the Expo itself.
The After Party also serves as a social gathering for stallholders, volunteers, and performers to connect and unwind in a more relaxed setting. While we understand this may not appeal to everyone in the same way, we encourage attendees to make the most of the diverse spaces and offerings available. For instance, there was ample seating towards the rear of the venue for those who needed it. However, you pointing this out has made us rethink and put the seating toward the stage and more play spaces in the dark back corners
We appreciate your input and will take it into account as we continue refining our events to better meet the needs of all attendees.
FEEDBACK
A dedicated play space at KK – too many people stepping into play areas
RESPONSE
The venue is specifically designed to offer multiple dedicated play areas spread across two levels, with plenty of space for attendees to explore and engage.
It’s natural for people to gather and watch when play scenes occur, as this is a common dynamic at events like ours. We encourage everyone to be mindful and respectful of others’ space, but we also recognise that the energy and curiosity of the crowd are part of the shared experience.
FEEDBACK
Options to help people who come alone feel a bit more included
RESPONSE
Thank you for your feedback about helping solo attendees feel more included. We understand that attending an event alone can be intimidating, and we’re committed to creating a welcoming environment for everyone.
To support solo attendees, we already have staff at the door who are happy to show people around, answer questions, and sometimes even make introductions. We encourage anyone attending alone to let our staff know upon entry, and we can arrange for one of our DMs (Dungeon Monitors) to take them under their wing and help them feel more comfortable.
Additionally, we’re considering introducing a voluntary color-coded wristband system to help attendees easily communicate their preferences or status, fostering connections and inclusivity.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and we look forward to continuing to enhance the experience for everyone in our community!
FEEDBACK
I think the expo is just about ready to move to a bigger venue, very crowded.
RESPONSE
We understand that the event can feel crowded at times, and we appreciate you sharing your perspective.
With the current challenges facing expos and festivals, we are mindful of the complexities of growth. However, we remain committed to Collingwood Town Hall as our venue of choice due to the unique atmosphere it provides, including the outdoor area in the adjacent park. While the space can feel busy during peak times, we encourage attendees to circulate and explore different areas to fully enjoy the event.
The energy of the crowd is part of what creates the vibrant and dynamic atmosphere of the Expo, and we’re always exploring ways to optimise the space and flow for a better experience. Thank you for being part of what makes the event so special, and we look forward to seeing you again next year!
FEEDBACK
There are lots of little things that go wrong, but it would likely cost you too much time/resources to make them right. This is a small festival after all. The only thing would be to get the schedule for events/performances to stay on time
RESPONSE
Thank you for your feedback and understanding of the challenges that come with organising a festival of this scale. While we do our best to ensure everything runs smoothly, we acknowledge that small hiccups can happen.
We completely agree with you on the importance of keeping the event and performance schedule on time. Staying on schedule is something we’re actively working to improve, as we know it’s a key part of enhancing the experience for everyone.
Your patience and support mean a lot to us, and we truly appreciate you being part of the festival. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and we look forward to delivering an even better experience next year!
FEEDBACK
As an active member of the kink community it can be a challenge to remain at one’s stall when there are so many wonderful performances and irresistibly unique stalls to explore… But there are worse problems to have in this world.
RESPONSE
Thank you for your delightful feedback! We’re thrilled to hear you enjoyed the performances and unique stalls—it’s a testament to the incredible creativity and energy within the community.
We completely understand the challenge of staying at your own stall when there’s so much excitement all around. It’s one of those “good problems” that remind us of the vibrant and engaging atmosphere the event creates.
Thank you for being part of the festival and contributing to what makes it so special. We can’t wait to welcome you back next year for more irresistible experiences (and perhaps a little extra temptation to sneak away from your stall)!
FEEDBACK
Only a small criticism, the emails are long! Perhaps they can be more targeted, ie. one about fetish expo, one about hellfire resurrection. The social posts are great and communication overall is excellent.
RESPONSE
Thank you for your kind words about our social posts and overall communication—we’re so glad to hear they’re hitting the mark! We also appreciate your feedback about the emails and understand that the length can sometimes feel overwhelming.
We aim to pack our emails with all the essential details, but we’ll take your suggestion on board and look at ways to make them more targeted in the future. Breaking them down by specific events, like Fetish Expo or Hellfire Resurrection, is a great idea that can help keep things concise and easier to navigate but we do need to be conscious that sending too many emails pisses people off too 😉
Your input helps us refine our approach, and we’re grateful for your support in making the festival the best it can be. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at future events!
FEEDBACK
The events had 0 available cleaning products which was especially uncomfortable because the venues where now SOP. This needs to be better and you need to do more to protect the community. Also, the fact the photos from certain parties are pay to view.
RESPONSE
We take the health and safety of our community very seriously and want to clarify the measures we had in place at ALL of the events.
We provided a dedicated medical area stocked with an ample supply of cleaning products and safe sex supplies. For multi-use equipment, wet wipes were taped to the legs with small bins placed underneath for easy disposal. Additionally, signage at the venue entrances indicated the availability of these supplies, and this information was also included in the attendance email and listed on our website.
If you are referring to Fetish Expo After Party there were 5 dedicated DM’s wearing lanyards roving throughout the venue and available to ask for help, which is asked for is given or actioned immediately.
Regarding photos from certain events being behind a paywall, this policy is specific to parties like Klub Kunts where the content is more intimate. This is done to respect the privacy and comfort of attendees, a decision supported by feedback from the majority of participants. For those who would like access to their personal photos, we offer the option to request them directly via email.
FEEDBACK
VIP was rammed and squishy with snacks festering the whole night. No wine served in VIP. I LOVE the MC but maybe get a fetish MC that relevant to the scene and a different dj each year. Look at Torture Garden and try to replicate that.
RESPONSE
We acknowledge that the VIP area became overcrowded during the event due to a team member allowing extra guests. This was an oversight, and we sincerely apologise for the experience. We’re taking steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again, and we’ll be more vigilant about maintaining the exclusivity and comfort of the VIP space at future events.
As for the MC, Pollyfilla has been an integral part of our team for 18 years and is deeply dedicated to the community. Her connection to the event and the audience is unparalleled, and she brings a unique energy that we believe truly represents the spirit of the festival. That said, we appreciate your suggestion regarding DJs and are actively exploring options to bring in fresh talent and create more opportunities for music and dancing at future events.
Thank you for your passion and your input—it helps us grow and evolve while staying true to what makes our events special. We hope to see you again next year for an even better experience!
FEEDBACK
We went to the launch party and enjoyed the shows but felt the space may have been too large for the attendees. I think there were mixed dates originally showing in some places as Friday and then Thursday. Might have been an issue for travel bookings
RESPONSE
Thank you for your feedback about the Launch Party. We’re glad you enjoyed the shows and appreciate your thoughts on the venue size.
As the Launch Party is only in its second year, it’s still a work in progress. Our goal is to continue building on its success and creating an even more engaging atmosphere. The space also serves as an introduction for our interstate and overseas VIP guests to experience the venue that hosts the workshops and Klub Kunts events, giving them a sense of what’s to come.
Your input is invaluable as we refine and grow the Launch Party into a more dynamic part of the festival. Thank you for being part of this journey, and we hope to see you at future events!
FEEDBACK
Personally- too much rope! Plus I did hear when the performances are on at the market the store holders have to stop trading as they cannot hear and that’s not the catwalk time- maybe have it at a different venue or have the performances elsewhere
RESPONSE
We agree that there was perhaps a little too much rope this year, and we’ll be making adjustments to balance the variety of performances at future events.
Regarding the fashion show, it remains a vital feature of the event, showcasing incredible artisan talent and bringing in the majority of the audience. It’s an essential part of growing our community and supporting the makers who contribute their creativity to the festival. While we understand that it may temporarily impact trading for stallholders, it lasts for only one hour out of a seven-hour day, and we believe it adds incredible value to the overall experience.
We’ll continue exploring ways to enhance the flow and ensure a balance between performances, shopping, and engagement for everyone.
FEEDBACK
Inconsistent/clashing workshop scheduling
RESPONSE

FEEDBACK
Lee Harrington’s session for tops clashing with a number of other top-focused workshops,
RESPONSE
Thank you for your feedback regarding the scheduling of Lee Harrington’s session and other top-focused workshops. We understand that overlapping sessions can be challenging for attendees trying to maximise their experience.
With 10 presenters offering workshops simultaneously across the available venue spaces, programming is a highly complex process. Our goal is to provide a diverse range of topics and presenters to cater to as many interests as possible, but some overlap is inevitable due to space and time constraints.
We’re always reviewing our scheduling to improve where we can and appreciate your understanding of the challenges involved in balancing such a robust lineup. Thank you for your feedback, and we hope you found valuable insights in the sessions you were able to attend!
FEEDBACK
followed by his session for bottoms/subs directly clashing with serotonin’s Psychological Safety for Subs.”
RESPONSE
Thank you for your feedback regarding the scheduling of Lee Harrington’s session for bottoms/subs and its overlap with Serotonin’s Psychological Safety for Subs. We understand the frustration of wanting to attend multiple workshops that resonate with your interests.
With 10 presenters offering workshops simultaneously, scheduling is a complex process influenced by venue space and time constraints. While we aim to provide a diverse and comprehensive program, some overlaps are unavoidable. We do our best to balance the schedule, but with so many amazing workshops to choose from, we understand that these conflicts can occur.
FEEDBACK
The sound levels in the hall were incredibly loud. I don’t have audio sensitivity and I ended up wearing my headphones most of the time to cut down the noise from the sound system. My friends with audio sensitivity could not stand to stay in the hall
RESPONSE
Thank you for your feedback regarding the sound levels in the hall. We’re sorry to hear that the noise levels impacted your experience and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We do have designated quiet zones and a large outdoor garden area available for attendees who need a break from the sound, but we understand that the volume in the main hall may still have been overwhelming for some. Moving forward, we will review our sound system setup to better balance the volume and ensure it is comfortable for everyone.
FEEDBACK
Pricing. Your events are too expensive.
RESPONSE
Our pricing reflects high cost of running events including a massive increase in festival insurance. We incorporate a level of international performers to bring new energy into the community this comes at a cost. However, we stand by our ticket pricing and have compared it to other events as a measure and it is fair and reasonable for the offer.
FEEDBACK
Photography policy, it’s opt out rather than opt in and pictures behind a pay wall so you can’t even know about your image to opt out. Rarely is there blurring of crowds during performances.
RESPONSE
We strive to strike a balance between capturing the energy of the event and respecting individual privacy.
Our policy clearly states that if you do not wish to be photographed, you can simply put your hand in front of your face as a signal. Our photographers are instructed to ask for consent whenever possible, and attendees are always free to refuse. Additionally, we encourage anyone who sees an image they would like removed to contact us directly, and we will address it immediately.
Regarding the paywall for certain photos, this is in place for specific events like Klub Kunts to ensure privacy and discretion, as the nature of those images can be more personal.
If you have attended an event and followed the photo policy that is included in your ticketing there will be no photos taken of you.
FEEDBACK
The after party was boring if you weren’t into impact play or rope. Should have been held at Inflation or Chasers, not a town hall. Staff were martyrs on rule enforcement. The vibe was cold
RESPONSE
The After Party is designed to cater to a diverse audience with a mix of performances, play spaces, and social opportunities. The play that happens is not curated by us, it is a play party where people choose what they do – they are playing to entertain people.
Regarding the venue, we choose locations like the town hall for their versatility and accessibility, which allow us to create a unique and intimate atmosphere. The after party is a follow on from Expo while we have the venue set up with all of the stage, lights, sound and equipment it is a part of the formulae that makes the festival viable – it offers a different space than a nightclub and we feel privileged that the council celebrates our community while in the space – if it was at the other venues then it wouldn’t be the after party and the stall holders, performers and fshion show models would likely not come.
Our staff are dedicated to maintaining a safe and inclusive environment by enforcing the rules that keep our community protected and respected. Without more context on what you’re referring too it sounds like they were doing their job.
FEEDBACK
I didn’t like the music volume for performances at Fet Expo. It is way too loud and makes it really difficult to communicate when attempting to make sales or purchases.
RESPONSE
Acknowledged as per previous responses
Also, LESS rope/shibari! More diverse performances would be great.”
Acknowledged as per previous responses
FEEDBACK
I reckon it should be on twice a year! 😉
RESPONSE
LOL it gets harder every year ! Thank goodness you messaged reminds me there are still good people that come along and appreciate the hard work !
FEEDBACK
More diversity in the performances, there are so many of the same shibari style performances, mix it up with some other rope and bondage styles and performers.
RESPONSE
Agree – less Shibari however there is a background to why there is so much with Melbourne being the shibari capitol of the world (?) we call out for performers and give first preference to those that apply and of course most of the are shibari. We are looking at fostering performance opportunities throughout the year and also doing some dedicated performance classes for the community to inject a level of diversity of performance outside of rope (of which there is very little kink related) so next year will be different !
FEEDBACK
Photos and videos taken at OKF should be accessible to anyone who purchased a ticket.
RESPONSE
Photos form the events are free to view on our website. The video we are supplied by our videographers is edited shorts for promotional purposes we do not blanket film and we do not release video other than the sizzle reels.
FEEDBACK
Don’t put the event photos behind a pay wall.
RESPONSE
You again? Love your passion as misguided as it is
FEEDBACK
OzKinkFest is a staple of the Kink Community in Australia. It is run by amazing professional people, it brings the community together, and encourages newbies to dip their toes into the water..
RESPONSE
Thank you we appreciate your kind acknowledging words
FEEDBACK
“I’d like a system like wrist bands that show if you’re willing to be approached for pick up play at parties.
RESPONSE
Thank you for your suggestion regarding a wristband system to indicate openness to pick-up play at parties. While we understand how this could be a useful tool in certain settings, we feel it may not align with the nature and focus of our festival events.
Our events are designed to foster a sense of community, creativity, and exploration within a broader and more structured framework. Introducing a system like this may shift the dynamic toward a club-style environment, which is not the intent of the festival.
That said, we encourage open and respectful communication between attendees to facilitate connections and ensure a positive experience for everyone.
FEEDBACK
It kind of sucks that none of the kink vendors made anything in my size. I get that I’m at the very end of the spectrum in terms of size but I couldn’t buy a single piece of kink wear to fit me
RESPONSE
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that you weren’t able to find kink wear in your size at the festival. We understand how frustrating that can be, especially when you’re looking forward to finding something special.
Many of our vendors offer custom-made pieces and are happy to work with clients to create kink wear tailored to their specific measurements and preferences. We encourage you to reach out to them directly, as their expertise and dedication to inclusivity may provide options that weren’t immediately visible at the event.
FEEDBACK
More characters would be better. Workshops not sharing curtains. We couldn’t hear anything. I heard more about chastity that I wasn’t even in or had intrest in. Same for hadrians classes. Loud. Need better partitioning.
RESPONSE
Thank you for your feedback regarding the workshops. We’d like to address your concerns and provide some context.
We’re not entirely sure what you mean by “more characters,” but if this refers to workshop content or themes, we’d love to hear more so we can understand better. As for the partitioning, we acknowledge that the venue has its limitations, and the curtains are the best solution currently available to divide the space. We recognise that sound bleed can occur, and we remind all presenters, especially first-timers, to be mindful of their volume during sessions.
Despite these challenges, we believe the workshops offer an incredible opportunity for learning and connection within the community. Your feedback helps us identify areas for improvement, and we’ll continue to explore options to enhance the experience while working within the constraints of the venue.
FEEDBACK
Thank you for providing such a great event.
RESPONSE
Thank you for taking the time to respond with positivity it is appreciated
FEEDBACK
Tag the models from the Oz kink fest shoot last year
RESPONSE
We have tagged those that we have details for – and have asked for people to add their tag – if they have a private account we cannot – If you are a model, please email Harry who you know, and we will rectify
FEEDBACK
KK entertainment wasn’t good.
RESPONSE
Thanks for your opinion. We work with artist to provide opportunity to build their performances and skills. This year was the first year we had performances at Klub Kunst and the artists involved were very proud of their work and we support them in performing on the stage.
It might not have been your thing but it was for others
FEEDBACK
The after party did not benefit from massive tables at the back. Very few people found the water stall and some people left the entire event just to get water.
RESPONSE
The tables at the back were well used by the stall holders, fashion show model/designers, volunteers and crew to sit down and rest after a very long day – it gave them an opportunity to soak up the atmosphere and talk through the day while they were shared with many other people being there did not affect anyone else’s experience.
Free Jugs of Water and cups were provided at the bar and we continually refilled – there was also water bottle available at the bar – it is a requirement of alcohol service, there was also a drinking fountain at the front entrance and near the toilets. If in doubt ask the staff or the DM’s.
FEEDBACK
The team At OzKinkFest work amazingly hard, you put on something so rare in our community for our community and with community involvement. Please, keep up the amazing good work.
RESPONSE
Thank you from the team and the many proud volunteers that make this event possible
FEEDBACK
My hat is off to Mallice and her team. Certainly, the best and most well run event in Australia at present.
RESPONSE
Thank you we are a great team of 1 that expands to a few more and a great group of volunteers during the festival. People like you are why we do it !
FEEDBACK
Everything was amazing and all the organisers were so friendly and lovely
RESPONSE
We are so glad you had a great experience
FEEDBACK
Anything I needed I asked for and was either provided with or directed to. I felt incredibly cared for and nurtured and supported.
RESPONSE
You’re a measure of our success thank you 😉
FEEDBACK
Ignore all the people having opinions with no skin in the game. You are doing pretty damn good
RESPONSE
We do listen to all feedback even the bad but it’s the social media attacks that hits the hardest but thanks so much we soldier on!
FEEDBACK
With the recent shakeup of the adult expo scene, it is good to see OKF continuing to grow and provide a place for new and seasoned kinksters to share knowledge, mingle and access those unique artisan kink products.
RESPONSE
You have encapsulated the core purpose of the festival – thank you !
FEEDBACK
Keep doing what you’re doing. There will always be people unhappy with little aspects, take the feedback on board but don’t be distracted by those who make the loudest noise. The feedback I hear is always positive.
RESPONSE
Agree it just takes one social media warrior to dampen things but the majority rule – see next feedback lol
FEEDBACK
To continue from the didn’t like part. After paying good $ for the event I shouldn’t have to pay for access to photos taken of myself and my friends at any events. Big red flag here because it’s just greedy and money hungry.
RESPONSE
I’m glad you filled out the official survey after posting this all over your Instagram stories that disappear after in-sighting misinformation and a personal attack.
We take concerns about value for money very seriously, and we want to address your comments directly.
The decision to place photos from certain events, like Klub Kunts, behind a paywall is not about greed but about maintaining the privacy and discretion of our attendees. These events often involve intimate and personal moments, and this system ensures that individuals can access their photos privately without compromising anyone else’s experience. This policy is clearly communicated in our event advertising, ticketing information, and on our website.
Additionally, attendees can always request photos of themselves free of charge by emailing us directly, a service we gladly provide to accommodate individual needs.
Regarding overall event value, we strive to deliver an exceptional experience through diverse programming, international and local performers, a vibrant marketplace, and safe, inclusive play spaces. Our pricing reflects the costs of running such a large-scale event while ensuring it remains accessible to as many people as possible.
We understand not every element of the event may resonate with everyone, but the effort and resources that go into making it a success are significant. We’re proud of what we offer and the community we serve, and we hope you can appreciate that perspective.
FEEDBACK
No – I think Di Is someone that I really admire. After so many years of this her professionalism is second to none.
RESPONSE
Thank you so kind
FEEDBACK
Thank you so much for putting it on. Kink in Australia is very different to kink events overseas and Im grateful you guys do this.
RESPONSE
Thank you- you are the reason we do it
FEEDBACK
Go team ozkink for providing an amazing event
RESPONSE
Thanks so much
FEEDBACK
You guys are amazing at what you have achieved and accomplished! Don’t let the haters get you! But there’s always ways to improve and each year have a wow factor- I’d be happy to pay more for a ticket if it helps improve the space / event. Go you!
RESPONSE
Agree we review, discuss and plan but always learn year by year what we can refine and do better – especially after feedback comes in. Thanks for your kind words !
FEEDBACK
serotonin’s session was excellent. I hope we get to learn more from her in future years!
RESPONSE
Agree and yes we will ! Very special and unique !
FEEDBACK
You guys do an amazing job providing a safe and welcome space for all kinksters of all paths 🙂
RESPONSE
Thanks
FEEDBACK
I don’t go to Hellfire anymore because it’s all performances no time for dancing or playing. Also so many people videoing or live streaming that there is great risk of being captured non confidentially. Klub kunst is no longer the hardcore play event
RESPONSE
Sorry if it’s not for you anymore you just have to find the good things in anything you go to.
FEEDBACK
OKF is simply an amazing opportunity to experience, celebrate and educate. It’s an amazing achievement and we are so lucky to have it here in Melbourne.
RESPONSE
We agree and need to ensure we survive !
FEEDBACK
You all do an amazing job, and I appreciate everything you do for the community. I don’t think Melbourne would have the thriving kink scene we all enjoy without the tireless work everyone at OKF does. This event is the beacon that brings us together.
RESPONSE
We agree and with the vast majority of our community also agreeing
FEEDBACK
Thank you all so much for what you do. People travel internationally and all over the country to attend this festival. This is a testament to how wonderful OzKink Fest is, and is a festival that the community looks forward to every year.
RESPONSE
We agree and with the vast majority of our community also agreeing
What would you love to see at Oz Kink Fest next year?
FEEDBACK
Needles hooks more of the same great presenters this year
RESPONSE
100%
FEEDBACK
For the workshops – i would love to see sessions that are more aimed at the sub/bottom. Not everyone is into learning how to tie a rope or swing a cane. And educational rather than a show/display as our Sydney friend tend to do
RESPONSE
While this year’s lineup featured a range of topics, we acknowledge that there could be more focus on workshops specifically aimed at subs and bottoms. We’re already exploring ways to expand the educational offerings to include more skill-building and experiential sessions that go beyond rope tying or impact play. Your point about making these sessions educational rather than display-focused is well-taken, and we’ll consider this when planning future programming.
FEEDBACK
Free photos. We all paid to be there. Maybe patrons should start charging the photographer to have their photos taken.
RESPONSE
We have responded to your other 5 submissions for the same response
FEEDBACK
“More edge play.
RESPONSE
While we understand the interest in more edge play, it’s important to clarify that our events are not designed to dictate or curate the types of play that occur. Instead, we provide a safe, inclusive environment where attendees are free to explore and express their interests at their own comfort level.
The diversity of play at our events is entirely driven by the community, and we believe in respecting individual choices without imposing expectations. We appreciate your input and hope you continue to find value in the unique and organic experiences our events provide.
FEEDBACK
I’d have more participation in parties: players can tell MC, “”there is a bukkake in the back corner for anyone to join”” and it’s announced. Or “”someone’s in grope box and check in with their partner wearing a pink hat”” etc. “
RESPONSE
Thank you for your feedback, but this type of announcement system is not something we will implement at our events. Our parties prioritie consent, privacy, and individual autonomy, and public announcements like these could compromise those values.
We encourage attendees to engage and participate in ways that feel authentic and respectful within the spaces we create. However, we believe it is essential to maintain an environment where consent and discretion are paramount, and where all forms of play occur naturally without external pressure or public solicitation.
FEEDBACK
Quieter music. More performances that aren’t shibari. But to be honest, after how insanely loud the music was at this one, I don’t think I’ll be going back.
“Improvement in the above. Better ways to book things. Better descriptions. I didn’t know what I was rocking up for. Liek the fact that sex was allowed on premises. I put down a glass of water and nearly interrupted a blowjob.
More water for drinking”
RESPONSE
it’s clear you’ve shared some important points that we’ll take into consideration for future events.
Music Volume:
We’re sorry to hear the music volume negatively impacted your experience. We aim to create an environment that’s energetic yet comfortable, but we acknowledge that adjustments are needed. We’ll review our sound setup to ensure a better balance moving forward.
Diversity in Performances:
We appreciate your suggestion for more variety in performances beyond shibari. We’re actively working to diversify the programming to cater to a broader range of interests, and your input is invaluable in guiding those efforts.
Booking and Descriptions:
We’re reviewing these areas to ensure attendees have all the necessary details to make informed choices before the event, including clear communication about elements such as sex-on-premises policies. This information is already included in event emails and signage but will be highlighted more effectively moving forward.
Drinking Water and Venue Management:
We’re committed to providing adequate drinking water and ensuring it’s easily accessible throughout the event. If you experienced difficulty finding water there is always free water available at the bar.
FEEDBACK
“Cheaper market entry. Hellfire have better performers.

FEEDBACK
A clear ticketing system.”
RESPONSE

FEEDBACK
Actual aftercare section at the expo after party rather than bean bags right in front of the loud speakers where people are having sex and probably leaking cum on the bean bags !?!
RESPONSE
We acknowledge that bean bags near loudspeakers may not be the most suitable location for aftercare. For future events, we’ll explore creating a dedicated and quieter aftercare area, away from high-traffic or loud zones, to ensure attendees have a more private and supportive space to decompress.
We also take concerns about cleanliness and hygiene seriously. We’ll implement stricter monitoring and ensure cleaning supplies are readily available to maintain these shared spaces to a high standard. Note we always have a medical station table that provides access to safe sex and cleaning products.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Your feedback helps us refine and improve the experience for everyone, and we hope you’ll notice these enhancements at our next event.
FEEDBACK:
A larger range of entertainment possibly musical acts?
RESPONSE:
Thank you for this suggestion! We’re always looking to diversify our entertainment options and will consider incorporating more musical acts in future programming to broaden the experience for attendees.
FEEDBACK:
The whole time was just fantastic. We also attended a few of the Melbourne fringe events as well, so the whole thing complemented each other.
RESPONSE:
Thank you for your kind words! We’re thrilled to hear you had a fantastic time and that the festival paired well with Melbourne Fringe events. We look forward to continuing this synergy in future years.
FEEDBACK:
A better after party! Dancing! Private rooms!
RESPONSE:
We’ll take this feedback on board as we look to improve the after-party experience. While private rooms may not align with the venue setup, we’ll explore ways to enhance dancing and social opportunities to create a more vibrant atmosphere.
FEEDBACK:
More spaces to go into in the after party.
RESPONSE:
Thank you for your feedback. The current venue does have limitations, but we’ll look into ways to optimise the layout and potentially incorporate more distinct spaces for next year’s after-party.
FEEDBACK:
A discussion about the link and leather history in Melbourne.
RESPONSE:
This is a fantastic idea! We’ll consider incorporating a session or panel discussion on the history of leather culture in Melbourne as part of our educational programming.
FEEDBACK:
Maybe a kink fest solo attendees meet-up before each event that’s a bit structured, it was great meeting people in workshops but it didn’t translate, maybe an option to sign up for a group to go to events together option?
RESPONSE:
Thank you for this thoughtful suggestion. We’ll explore the idea of structured meet-ups or group sign-ups to help solo attendees feel more included and create opportunities for meaningful connections.
FEEDBACK:
Body modification!!!
RESPONSE:
Thank you for this suggestion! Body modification is a fascinating topic, and we’ll explore incorporating it into future workshops or discussions to broaden the educational offerings.
FEEDBACK:
More variety in the entertainment.
RESPONSE:
We appreciate this feedback and will continue to diversify the performances and entertainment offerings to ensure there’s something for everyone.
FEEDBACK:
More leather fashion and latex fashion. It seems to be becoming a little sex shoppy at times.
RESPONSE:
Thank you for your observation. We’ll encourage vendors and participants to focus on showcasing high-quality leather and latex fashion to maintain the festival’s unique aesthetic and appeal.
FEEDBACK:
More of the same.
RESPONSE:
Thank you! We’re glad to hear you’re enjoying the current format and balance of events. We’ll continue delivering the experiences you love.
FEEDBACK:
More of the same. I think the range of events, ie. expo, play party, workshops, performance event provide a great balance with something for everyone.
RESPONSE:
Thank you for your positive feedback! We’re thrilled that the variety of events resonates with you, and we’ll aim to maintain this balance in the future.
FEEDBACK:
More latex – always.
RESPONSE:
Noted! We’ll continue to support and showcase latex fashion and performers at the festival.
FEEDBACK:
Unfortunately we won’t be back next year. A different format that’s fresh would entice us back.
RESPONSE:
We’re sorry to hear this and appreciate your honesty. While we’re committed to the festival’s core structure, we’re always looking for ways to evolve and innovate to keep things fresh and exciting. Hopefully in the future we will entice you back
FEEDBACK:
Workshops were great.
RESPONSE:
Thank you! We’re so glad you enjoyed the workshops and will continue to prioritise high-quality educational content.
FEEDBACK:
The regular nights as well. Pretty much all you had this year. We really enjoyed ourselves.
RESPONSE:
Thank you for your support! It’s wonderful to hear you enjoyed both the festival and our regular events. We’ll keep delivering these experiences.
FEEDBACK:
Not as much rope – something different or more extreme! Mistress Tokyo was amazing! Polly was fantastic and her dance at the Market was awesome! Maybe showcase our DOMs and their talents? Ie wax or fire! lol
RESPONSE:
Thank you for this feedback. We’ll work to reduce the focus on rope and incorporate more diverse and extreme acts to highlight the incredible talents in our community.
FEEDBACK:
Fire flogging would be interesting.
RESPONSE:
Great suggestion! We’ll explore incorporating fire flogging as a performance or workshop element in future events.
FEEDBACK:
Weekend workshops — it would be nice to have, perhaps, a “dominant track” and “submissive track” of electives so that Dom-focused and sub-focused workshops don’t clash and run at the same time.
RESPONSE:
Thank you for this thoughtful suggestion. We’ll look into creating more structured tracks to reduce scheduling conflicts and better meet the needs of our attendees.
FEEDBACK:
More shaded seating areas outside, and more food options.
RESPONSE:
Thank you for your feedback. We’ll explore ways to provide more shaded seating and expand food options to enhance the comfort and enjoyment of outdoor areas.
FEEDBACK:
If you aren’t going to drop your prices then at least add more value for money. International DJs that play electro/house would be a start.
RESPONSE:
Thank you for your input. We’re always working to balance affordability and value. Adding international DJs is a great suggestion, and we’ll consider this for future events
FEEDBACK:
Better knowledge and consent practices from the photographers and videographers. Free access to images on purchasing tickets. Less performances at Hellfire. Forget photography at everything but expo.
RESPONSE:
Thank you for your feedback. We’ll review our consent practices for photographers and videographers to ensure clarity and respect
FEEDBACK:
I have no suggestions. Slight tinkering to keep it relevant. But nothing specific.
RESPONSE:
Thank you for your feedback! We’ll continue to refine and improve the festival to ensure it stays fresh and engaging.
FEEDBACK:
An audio erotica panel – source audio erotica creators across Australia. Audio erotica open mic.
RESPONSE:
What an exciting idea! However this is not within our scope for the festival.
FEEDBACK:
I honestly can’t think of anything that isn’t already included!
RESPONSE:
Thank you so much for your support! We’re thrilled to hear the festival meets your expectations.
FEEDBACK:
More diversity in the performances, there are so many of the same shibari style performances, mix it up with some other rope and bondage styles and performers.
RESPONSE:
Thank you for your feedback. We’ll work to diversify the performance lineup to include a broader range of styles and showcase more unique talents.
What did you like the most about this year’s festival?
Kunst and the workshops
Loved catching up with everyone and being involved. The excitement of the weekend and the possibilities of the unknown. HF and KK were great to mingle and catch up with friends. Lee Harrington was awesome to sit in with
Performances and energy
I didn’t attend this year, but I was in at the beginning and attended every year until 2019. It is an amazing event and should be supported without question
The workshops, amazing speakers. I expected to like the parties the most.
The fashion show at the end was kinda fun, though none of the stuff shown would have been likely to fit me as I am a very large man. Props to Julia (one of the staff) who helped me out when I had a mental breakdown.
The chance to dress up. And Lee Harrington.
The performances on the stage at the expo were incredible to see
Klub kunst was good
Market vendors, workshop presenters.
All the market stalls at the expo. Many of whom I recognised from the local scene.
The community spirit this event develops is substantial and amazing . The diverse range of people that attend this series of events covers all of the growing segments of our diverse society. It is an series of events that is totally inclusive.
“Mmmmm the overall atmosphere and enthusiasm of those in charge or conducting workshops.
Having just returned from Folsom Street a couple of weeks earlier, to me, it seemed Melbourne was much more “”user friendly”” than Folsom this year.”
The fashion show !
The outdoor area at the expo and the space at klub Kunst
The variety and friendly supportive vibes
“Workshops are the best
I wish I was at the market”
The inclusiveness of everyone there, catering to a variety of different fetishes and kinks. Loved the fashion show
Klub Kunst has a good vibe, so did the afterparty.
From a business perspective Personable Shibari is grateful for the support from OKF both in the lead up and during the fetish expo. Melb Fetish Expo attracts the most diverse range of kink artisans and craftspeople that we have encountered.
As always we are in awe of the scale of this event and the commitment and energy that organisers exhibit to improve from year to year. The event truly makes Melbourne the kink capital of Australia with kinksters travelling from interstate.
The workshops where run really well and had great educators.
Mistress Tokyos performance at hellfire and the fashion show at fetish expo
Hellfire feedback. Fun night but way too much shibari and seen them before performers. 5 friends left early as bored by the time the dj started, Great introductory night for new people entering the scene which there were lots.
Loved the variety of events and presenters at the workshops
I so enjoy these weekends- Hellfire I start planning my outfits months in advance! I enjoy seeing friends and that includes Sydney people! KK is a bit squishy for play but it’s still a fun vibe! The market is great and the catwalk this year -WOW!
The crowd was great for the markets! Lots of interested customers. Unfortunately it was so busy we didn’t get time to check out the rest of the festival.
“Weekend workshops were fantastic — brilliantly curated, and expertly presented.
Disappointing that the Mindful Consent scheduled for Sunday was moved earlier without notice sorry if you bought a Sunday ticket specifically to see that session…”
The connections we made, and the overall welcoming, non-judgemental attitude … the vibe is amazing!
The exhibition stalls
Hellfire Resurrection
Catching up with people
There were just so many choices catering for so many kinks. And it had national and world wide appeal. The networking opportunity were amazing
The variety of events and workshops available
I liked the fact that we could all connect and engage as a whole community, rather than in groups or cliques that favour particular fetishes. There is so much on offer in Melbourne, but OKF gives us all a wider context to appreciate each other.
“That the event is so safe, inclusive, and welcoming. All people from all walks of life are welcome, and you can feel the acceptance from everyone.
The education courses absolutely embody safe, sane and consensual, and teach others how to play safely”
Layout of market was good, kk was excellent, great workshops available.
